A Quick Recap of the Last Few Months!

Sept 14th 2012
ROSE CITY COMIC-CON:  A couple of weeks ago Talisman Films attended the First Annual Rose City Comic-Con.  It was an amazing event and we were honored to be a part of it. We meet a lot of great people and spread the word about our Transmedia Message!
While we were there we were lucky enough to be interviewed by some very cool internet podcasts.  Mail Order Zombie and Lunch With Luis both honored us.  Below are links to those interviews.
Beside meeting a ton of great people and telling them about our films, we were also asked to run a panel on transmedia where we shared the world premier of a sneak peek look at a live action trailer for "Varsity Cheerleader Werewolves From Outer Space" starring Daniel Baldwin.
We are not ready to share that clip here just yet, but if you come see us at Howl Con in October, you will get a chance to see it for yourself.

PORTLAND HOWL CON:  Coming up in October we will be joining the first ever HOWL Con. We will be presenting two panels and a Live Radio Performance of "Dex Dixon" and showcase the trailer for "Varsity Cheerleader Werewolves From Outer Space."  Check it out and come on by our merchandise booth to get more information and say hello.

Sept 30th 2012
HOWL Con Panels being presented by Talisman Films LLC and Steve Coker.
Here are the two panels we will be presenting.

Dex Dixon, Paranormal Dick: Concept to Creation & Beyond!
Film-noir horror comedy musical? That’s what talisman films set out to create. Writer Director Steve Coker and guests discuss the rich world of the Dexiverse and present clips and concept art from their upcoming high-concept mash-up film, “The Adventures of Dex Dixon: Paranormal Dick.” Meet the filmmakers and artists behind Talisman Film’s transmedia push and discover how they plan to take over the world from comic books to Broadway.
Varsity Cheerleader Werewolves From Outer Space: Concept, Creativity and Commitment Culminate with Creativity.
Steve Coker of ScreenWorks Ink set out to create a simple screenplay as an homage to 80s Sci-fi horror flicks. What he ended up with was a juggernaut of a concept film filled with cool allegory and tasty bits of fun, that has captured the imaginations of local artists, actors and film producers. Steve and guests will share the story of the creation of the script, concept art, discuss the importance of collaboration, and share the live action trailer for the upcoming film production starring Daniel Baldwin (John Carpenter’s Vampires!).

Graphic Novels, Poster Art, and Video Dreams
After attending a couple of conventions, it is clear that we need to start seriously looking at our proporties as graphic novels or comics.  An overwhelming number of people who visited our booths were asking us when the comic was coming out. So now I am looking seriously at how to make that happen. Scot Roller and I have talked about it a little bit and we will start to strategize soon.  Hopefully we can come up with a plan to make this happen soon!  Stay tuned!

Comic-Con Panel Video
Back in September when we were at the Rose City Comic-Con, we presented a panel at the event. Though the panel was focused on Dex Dixon, it also included our foray into transmedia and the upcoming Varsity Cheerleader film. Mike Lindberg, was kind enough to tape the panel and edit it together with the high quality video content. Here is that video!

WOW a long time a-comin'!

So it has been a very long time since last we visited this blog and a lot has been going on.  As for Dex Dixon, we are still plugging away at creating content for our Dexiverse. Recently a comic book has begun to form;  Dex Dixon; Adventures in The Dexiverse Vol 1. is currently being written and Scott Roller has begun to develop the page layouts for the story.  The comic will tell the story of Dex and his pals ten years before the film takes place, when Dex was at the top of his game and when a major catastrophe in another world almost caused the down fall of our own.  Watch for updates on this project as it develops.
We are also gearing up to shoot a new short for Dex.  Dexverse Tales Vol. 1: Lt. Tagert Suspects. We will shoot this one very shortly and it should be a fun one.  I am currently putting together a team and a cast for this one.
Above you can see a picture of me at this last years Rose City Comic-con.   We were invited to present our videos for Dex Dixon, as well as show a rough edit of our live action trailer for "Varsity Cheerleader Werewolves From Outer Space!"  We had a good time talking about our films and selling merchandise. And shortly after this we were invited to Howl-Con and the Rockin' Film Fest.
We still have a long way to go gang, but we are still determined to bring Dex Dixon and his world into the mainstream!
